President's Welcome

September 2019

Greetings and welcome back to all Music Boosters, and Families!

Tina and I can hardly believe that it has been 4 years since our son Josh started at Williamsville South.  Now it’s Senior Year!! It was just yesterday he started in Kindergarten, and for some parents you can empathize that it is a quick ride to the top.   It will be over before we know it.  A bit of advice, it goes faster and faster until you say “what just happened.”

It seemed like just yesterday that the last business we conducted for Boosters was end of the year wrap up and the concert for the Community Band at Island Park.  Since that time, we have hit the ground running and we have many things planned for the fall.

We recently completed registration with New York State Tax Department as a Charitable Organization.  You may remember we completed this on the Federal Level a few years prior.  The designation of a 501(c) (3) enables us to be comfortable knowing that ALL donations to the organization and ALL fundraising efforts are tax deductible for our members and donors.  We have engaged in some very lofty events and goals, making tax deductions very important to you and the community.  My goal is to ask you to continue to  assist us with events and fundraising endeavors, but do it in such a way that you are enjoying helping us without feeling we are “squeezing” you to do so.  Some of the events that we are planning should be fun, entertaining, and helpful for our organization, so that we can continue to deliver amazing supplementary and valuable experiences for all of our students and musicians.  When you help us, we can continue to help them, and everyone in the community benefits.

Our very first General Membership meeting is Wednesday, October 16, at 7 PM at Mill Middle School.  I would like to respectfully request your attendance.  As part of my Presidential Transition Plan, it is important for me to spark your interest and vision for this organization.  We need parental involvement for Boosters to grow and to thrive, not to mention that they kick me out of my presidential chair at the end of June in 2020.  (It was a Mr. Eric Modlich / Mill Middle Music Teacher that asked us to get involved with Boosters).  I’m sure our VP Jim Francisco (who has worked tirelessly) wants to take the helm, but we also need help for our Treasurer and Secretary, (Kelli and Theresa).  We are looking for motivated and eager people to assist us.  Even if you don’t want an officer’s position, your help sitting at a table for concerts, selling chocolates, memberships, and Magnets, helps us to remain visible to parents and people in the community.

Our first dining fundraiser is Wednesday October 23, 2019 at Anderson’s on Main Street in Williamsville.   This is always an exciting and fun night, and who doesn’t like Anderson’s?  (And they treat us so well!)

An interesting and exciting contest we are running now is the brainchild of our VP, Jamie Francisco.  We will replace our old bumper stickers with a newly designed magnet, the design of which will be from the community at large!  Details of will probably be forthcoming, and will appear on our website.  I can’t wait to see what our students dream up!

We are always looking for new ideas and involvement.  Please feel free to be at our meetings, stop us at concerts and events, or email me at Myrelease@aol.com if you have suggestions, questions or ideas!

Here is to the best Boosters Year Ever!  Welcome Back Everyone!
